Turkey Mountain Neighborhood Association had a cookout on July 4th this year and it was a fabulous event. So many laughs and memories made. The highlight for me was how our parade grew from 3 vehicles to 5 as we pressured every new arrival to just join in at the last minute.
Everyone who came seemed to enjoy the good, old fashioned fun and some time to relax and chat as we celebrated the freedoms that we have been blessed with here in America.
Below is our neighborhood association president, Jerry McCoy's humorous take on the event. Love it!
"Greetings, denizens of Turkey Mountain Neighborhood Association !
If you weren't able to join us for the FABULOUS July 4th TMNA Cookout and Parade, then you certainly have something to look forward to next year!
Hosted by Catherine & Drew Tangren at the southwest end of 68th street, attendees were treated to a delicious potluck/cookout, flying water balloons, a highly competitive watermelon seed-spitting contest won by Candy Bob Patterson of 67th street, a pie-baking contest won by Catherine Klehm (the contest was clearly rigged since my wife, Anne McCoy, did not win!), convivial conversations, and a FABULOUS July 4th parade!
Our thanks to Dana Patterson, Ms. TMNA 2024, for giving the beauty-queen wave from the sun window of Candy Bob & Dana's Rubicon to the adoring street-side crowds. Thanks A TON to the Tangrens for hosting! And thanks to each of you who joined making the extravaganza so much fun and proving that TMNA represents the greatest neighborhood in the universe!
Until next time,
--Jerry McCoy Catherine Tangren Zach Howard
